The Albion Police Department provides municipal police services within the Village of Albion 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. The Village rests within the Towns of Albion and Gaines, along the historic Erie Canal and is the Orleans County seat. Twelve sworn personnel comprise the department – which has a command staff of a Chief, Lieutenant, and one Sergeant commanding each of three platoons. One officer is assigned to the Orleans County Major Felony Crime Task Force full-time. The Village’s “on-call” animal control officer and school crossing guard are civilian members of the police department. We operate a fleet of “black and white” police vehicles. Characteristic of many smaller departments, several of our personnel take-on multiple roles within the department .
The Albion Police Department promotes policing as a people business. We place people first, internally and externally, and appreciate the value of each and every person. The officers of the Albion Police Department serve this community and its people. We are called upon to enforce laws and ordinances passed by the representatives of these same people, and while doing so, we actively collaborate with our community partners to ensure our Village is a safe, thriving environment in which to live, work, visit and have fun.
